Love Resists
Dear Karen,
Dr. Scott Warren provided food and water in the desert of southern Arizona to people crossing through this harsh terrain, knowing they were at risk of dying of hunger and thirst. But due to his affiliation with No More Deaths, a border justice organization that highlights the abuses perpetrated by Border Patrol, Dr. Warren has been targeted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) and is facing up to 20 years in prison for his acts of humanitarian aid.

As Scott’s parents say, “That the U.S. Attorney’s Office would seek to criminalize compassion and respect for human dignity is unconscionable.”

Compassionate people of conscience and faith know providing life-saving humanitarian aid is never a crime and so we cannot be silent while this injustice continues. Please join us in calling Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel Walters and Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Wright to urge them to drop all charges against Dr. Scott Warren.

The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, co-sponsors of the Love Resists Campaign, have set up a web page with phone numbers and a script to make calling easy. Find the sample script and phone numbers here. Calls are needed now through Friday.

In solidarity,

The Love Resists Team

P.S. For faith leaders in or near Arizona, consider joining Faith Floods the Courtroom during Scott’s trial, on June 5 in Tucson, AZ!
Love Resists is a joint campaign by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
