Love Resists
Dear  Friend,
One year ago, people of faith and conscience—people like you—responded with fierce love and public resistance as a new administration based on fear, othering, and hate took office. Our apprehensions weren’t exaggerated. This past year alone we’ve seen multiple attempts at a Muslim ban, wide-sweeping immigration raids and the purposeful targeting of activists and sanctuary cities, the chipping away of LGBTQI protections, and a resurgence and heightened visibility of white supremacists.

But we resisted. Because love resists.

The work of this campaign has taken many forms: from individuals marching in support of #blacklivesmatter and immigrant rights to congregations offering physical and expanded sanctuary to undocumented families around the country. It’s the quiet service of supporting communities at risk by sharing our company and meals to the practical tasks of accompanying and supporting individuals during their deportation hearings and immigration visits.
These stories—your stories—inspire us to stay motivated.

So let us know: how have you resisted this year? Share your stories with us on your favorite social media platform using #LoveResists and be part of the growing online community of people unapologetically resisting hate and building a new way for ourselves and our loved ones, our neighbors, and community.
We know this work can be depleting physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Take a moment in the coming weeks to reconnect yourself with Love Resists and take advantage of our resources, which aim to to fortify our spirits and inspire strength and courage; anchor Love Resists in your congregation; and support us to make meaningful connections with local partners.

In solidarity,

The Love Resists Team

PS: If you’re wondering how to more effectively organize and mobilize your congregation’s justice work, join our webinar January 30 at 7:00 pm ET. Get your congregation organized and energized just in time to watch Trump’s first-ever State of the Union address at 9 pm.

Grounded in faith, guided by local partners, our resistance will continue to flourish, and we can replace hate with love.
Love Resists is a joint campaign by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee.
