Featured Resource: Primary Contacts
Do you know who your congregation's primary contact is?

The Central East Regional (CER) has a primary contact staff system to ensure our congregations know who to reach out to for assistance. Every CER congregation and community has a UUA Staff Member who serves as your Primary Contact for all services of the region and the UUA. This is someone with whom you can build a close, working relationship, who will have an intimate knowledge of your congregation's blessings and challenges, and can be proactive in helping you to share those blessings and meet those challenges. Your Primary Contact can help you to navigate all the support and opportunities available to your congregation. Find your primary contact now.

    Better Together Blog: Returning Home
    by Rev. David Pyle

One of the blessings of getting out of your normal surroundings is that it inspires you to see thing anew when you return.  Whether it is a Summer vacation, or a Board Retreat somewhere that is not your congregational space, or a sabbatical for a religious professional, changing your surroundings not only allows you new experiences, it helps you see what has become common in a new light.

    News from the UUA
The Youth and Young Adult Office announce new UUA Youth Safety Guidelines have been released. These guidelines were developed after a year of study, writing and review. You can read and download them at the UUA website.

Call for Book Proposals - UU Rainbow History. Unitarian Universalist Retired Ministers and Partners Association (UURMaPA) announces a search for an editor or editors to compile or write a book telling stories of the past 50 years of LGBTQ+ history in Unitarian Universalism. We envision this as a "Conference Book," drawn largely from materials generated by the UU Rainbow History Project, in particular its February and October 2019 Conferences on this subject. The materials include videotape presentations and interviews, as well as written submissions, some of which can be found on the website,uurainbowhistory.net. Content will include Stories of UU clergy pioneers, leaders, activists, and partners; Issues of spiritual, institutional, cultural transformation; and Representation and inclusion of voices from the rainbow spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities and experiences. A detailed request for proposals can be found at the UURMaPA website.

The Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office is accepting applications for youth and adult leaders for their 2020 Intergenerational Spring Seminar which will address the theme of climate justice and take place in New York City April 15-18, 2020. Youth and Adult Deans (involved with designing and leading programs, especially for youth participants): apply by August 12. Youth and Adult Chaplains (serve as a listening ear and supportive presence during the event): apply by September 8. Youth & Adult members of the Planning Committee (create programs and arrange logistics and outreach): apply by September 8. Learn more and apply at www.uua.org/unspringseminar.

Online Interim Training. Is your congregation welcoming an interim minister? Or do you have another staff member whose portfolio includes intentional developmental work? Twice a year the UUA Office of Church Staff Finances hosts a seven-week online interim training to help congregational staff understand, support, and/or lead transitions (of people, programs, etc.) in their congregations. This is a great training for staff to take as a team! For more information, testimonials from recent participants, and the application form, see our Professional Interim Training course page. Applications are due August 15, and the Opening Webinar takes place on Monday evening, September 16 (7:00 ET).
