Featured Resource: Programs Offered by CER Staff
Is your cluster of congregations looking for programming to meet congregational needs for the upcoming church year? Not sure what options are available to you?

The CER staff have created a listing of workshops we offer across the region for clusters or groups of congregations. If you are interested in seeing what we can provide for you, check out the list. If you find something that interests your entire group, email your primary contact to start the conversation about when we might be able to offer the workshop in your area. Some workshops any of our staff can lead, others require those specifically trained in that topic to lead it.

Workshops include topics such as board training, intercultural competency, multicultural welcome, restorative justice training, volunteer training, safer congregations, stewardship in the 21st century and more.

To see the full list visit our website's Program page.
Our Whole Lives Trainings for Facilitators Scheduled
The schedule for Our Whole Lives Trainings in the Central East Region is in the process of being finalized and we have offerings for all three age levels around the region.

The Our Whole Lives teacher training covers the curricula for the one of three age levels - elementary, junior/senior high or young adult/adult/older adult. The goals of this workshop are to prepare the participants to implement the curriculum as well as the Sexuality and Our Faith component. Through a varied program including practice and participation activities, the trainers will cover implementation techniques, information about adolescents, curricula details, and technical information. Trainings are typically Friday evening through Sunday afternoon and include 15 hours or more of training time. To be certified as an Our Whole Lives Facilitator, one must attend the entire training.

St. Lawrence Seaway Annual Gathering
We invite you to join us for this year's Seaway Gathering ~ Drawing the Circle Wide: Pre-emptive Radical Inclusion, May 3-4, 2019 in Ithaca, NY.

Friday night Gould Discourse: Kids These Days:  How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Hope Again with Rev. Frances Manly

Saturday Morning Keynote Speaker: Pre-Emptive Radical Inclusion with CB Beal
Preemptive Radical Inclusion is a framework for liberation and justice to use when we are in positions of leadership, when we are given–or have taken–responsibility within a group or organization. Whether it is the formal and constant leadership of organizational leaders, or if the leadership is temporary for a particular event, our responsibility is to plan for, include, and involve everyone–broadly speaking–in our event.

Morning workshops cover a wide range of topics, co-hort conversations will take place during lunch and we'll bridge the graduating Upstate New York youth as part of our closing ceremonies.

Better Together Blog: Does Your Congregation Talk About Stewardship Year Round?
by Patricia Infante

Many congregations are in the waning days of their annual stewardship campaign. Are you thinking, "whew, glad that’s done until next year?" Well…not so fast! The annual campaign may be winding down but stewardship is a year round process. The work of educating, building relationship, expressing gratitude and demonstrating generosity is ongoing so the real question is, "what will we do next to keep the conversation going?" In some congregations talking about stewardship (and money in general) is like a visit to the dentist – I know it’s good for me but once a year is enough. The truth is, like most things, the more you talk about it – the more comfortable some folx will become about having "the talk" when the annual canvass rolls around.
